Scarnageeragh

Located on a busy Main Street, this project involved the careful reconstruction of a family home, rebuilt on its original footprint with considered extensions. The design was defined by two distinct forms: a low, slate-clad front volume that housed sleeping area/bathrooms, and a taller rear form that contained open living spaces.

The restrained street façade preserved privacy, while the rear opened fully to the garden and mature trees. Subtle level changes shaped ancillary spaces and terraces, with paths defining lawns and outdoor rooms.

Externally, the space was quiet and refined, its minimal palette and precise detailing emphasizing form over ornament. Large glazed spans—supported by masonry, steel lintels, and slender columns—blurred the boundary between interior and landscape.

The design culminated in a contextually responsive residence — understated from the street yet but expansive and light-filled within.
