Railway View

The site, formerly occupied by a modest 1960s bungalow with surrounding bloodstock grazing land, was bounded to the west by a historically significant stone wall linked to the former Military Barracks. Belgium Park lay beyond, named after Belgian refugees of the First World War, while the former Great Northern Railway once traversed adjoining land to the south.

The development comprised 16 mixed residential units with vehicular and pedestrian access, on-street and rear parking, storage, and integrated landscaping. Set on a 0.37-hectare, west-facing site fronting three streets, the scheme anchored by a three-storey apartment building at the key junction, with a single, cohesive built form extending along both frontages.

A restrained palette — brick, render, glass and stainless steel— ensured contextual sensitivity while enhancing local amenity and environmental performance.
